Notes de Beaumont has noted on the half title page: [Book purchased from:] John Turton 3 2001 £5 ECB give this as 1860 3561’. Bolts uncut. The title page has a large platter/ medallion, which has the royal coat of arms, with three swords and battle scenes (of the field of Waterloo?). The frontispiece has a scene from the Indian campaign, captioned: ‘British troops crossing the Decan.’ Blue dyed paper wrappers/ card covers. The lower cover is not printed. The upper cover is printed in gold, with relief features. Lettered at the head: “/ The Hero of Waterloo./ Remarkable Men/ [within an oval shape] their adventures and histories/ A/ Book/ for/ Boys/ by/ M S Cockayne./” At the tail, blocked in relief against a gold background: “/ London: Dean & Son 11 Ludgate Hill. On the upper cover verso, there is a young lady, blocked in relief, standing upright, her left outstretched arm holds a shroud, which is about to cover a funerary monument. This book acquired with the generous assistance of the British Library Collections Trust. Another copy (probably) of this work is at British Library shelf mark 10603b26
