Notes The bookplate of Robin de Beaumont is on the verso of the upper cover. He has noted on the half title page: ‘[Book purchased from] David Bristow 10.92 £25’. “Plays for Children No. 8” is printed on the half title page. This series is described as: “Roy 16mo., neatly printed in parchment covers, price 1s. net each.” Glassine dust jacket. The lower cover of the dust jacket is not printed. The upper cover has a design signed, bottom left, “Jessie M. King”. The lettering above and below the illustration, is:”/Plays for Children No.8/ The/ Fairy Fruit/ By Ida Gandy/ London: and Glasgow W. Gowans & Gray Ltd/”. The upper cover illustration shows a Christmas tree rooted in a barrel, with a red dressed fairy and a star at the top, and thirteen candles at the end of the tree branches. Two brown clothed goblins at either side of the base of the tree. The spine has: “The Fairy Fruit Ida Gandy” printed along its length in black letters. There is a separate slip from Maggs catalogue of 7.98 for the series: “Gowans Art Books”. This book acquired with the generous assistance of the British Library Collections Trust.
