Notes Text sewn on two sawn-in cords. The rectangular bookplate of Robin de Beaumont is on the upper cover verso. He has noted: “[Book purchased from] Stanley Smith & Keith Fawley(?) 9.81 £4.50”. White paper wrappers. The lower cover has a list of a series: “Tales of the City of London. One shilling each volume.” At the base of the cover is the imprint: “E. Evans, Printer, Raquet Court, Fleet Street.” The upper cover has a dark blue background. The lettering is in red at the head and at the tail: “/ Letters/ left at/ the/ Pastrycook’s/ /Nathaniel Cooke, Milford House/” Immediately above the word “Pastrycook’s” are “Horace Mayhew”. The envelopes containing the letters are variously date stamped, with mis-directed notes, and one letter having a penny red stamp. The spine has “One Shilling” along its length. This book acquired with the generous assistance of the British Library Collections Trust. Another copy (probably) of this work is at British Library shelf mark C109b7
