Notes Blue paper over boards. The endpapers and pastedowns have lists of publisher’s titles. The lower cover has an advertisement for Samuel Wood’s “The British bird-preserver”, part of: “Warne’s Useful Books” series. The upper cover is printed in colours, ferns prominent to the sides and lower corners. Within decorative ‘cartouches’, the words: “/ Warne’s Useful Books/ A Fern Book/ for/ Everybody/ by M. C. Cooke/ London./ Frederick Warne & Co./” The spine has the title in red letters along its length, against a blue background. At the tail is the price: “/One/ Shilling/” This book acquired with the generous assistance of the British Library Collections Trust. Another copy (probably) of this work is at British Library shelf mark 7030aa30 and W64/4067
