In 1831, at the time he inherited his mother's estate, he was the richest commoner in England. He was born in Old Burlington Street in Mayfair, London, the eldest son of Thomas Richard Beaumont by his wife Diana Wentworth, daughter of Sir Thomas Wentworth, 5th Baronet. He was the father ofw: Wentworth Beaumont, 1st Baron Allendale, eldest son and heir, raised to the peerage in 1906. (Wikipedia). Bywell Hall has been home to the Beaumont family since 1810, the Palladian building sits by the River Tyne at Bywell, Northumberland. The estate was purchased by Thomas Wentworth Beaumont for £145,000 early in the 19th century. In 1911 the family gained the title Viscount Beaumont. Bywell Hall is now home to The Hon Wentworth Beaumont and his wife and three children. The Beaumont and Blackett ancestors of the Viscounts Allendale were closely involved in developing the lead industry in the north-east of England from the seventeenth century onwards.
