English: Buxton station. "At the station only one end wall, with giant fan window, and a waiting-room building survive from the two identical and adjacent stations designed by J. Smith, with Paxton's advice, for the Midland and the London & North Western Railway Companies. The major part was demolished in 1969-70." (Pevsner, The Buildings of England: Derbyshire). Joseph Paxton was the designer of the Crystal Palace. |
