Title
Button and loop fastener fragment
Description
English: A cast copper-alloy button-and-loop fastener, closest to Wild class 5a, dating late 1st-2nd century AD. Only half of the fastener remains: the head is missing but the shank and loop remain. The shank is Y-shaped with a moulded decoration on the foot: to either side of the arms of the Y is a disc with serrated edges and on top, in the centre between the discs is a shield-shaped component which sits on a horizontal bar that connects the two arms of the Y. All surfaces are smooth and even though fragmentary, the object is in good condition with hardly worn surfaces.

A similar object was recorded under NCL-7BEC34.
