Description
English: Romano-British button and loop fastener of Wild's Class III dating to the late 1st - 2nd centuries. The fastener weighs 8.65g and is cast copper alloy. The fastener comprises of two main parts; The loop fastener part is an elongated triangle about 21mm long, the narrow end of the triangle turns into a rod and bends 90 degrees to attach to the button element. The button or head is tear or petal-shaped and comprises a central boss surrounded by a raised outer edge which is drawn out into a point. The back of the head is hollow-cast. The fasterner measures 37.03mm in length and 14.59mm in width.
