Description
English: Bush Hall, Mill Green, Welwyn Hatfield Bush Hall Estate is first recorded in 1574. It is a grade II listed building https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1348160 with the back from the 17th century and the 18 century front (in this picture). Although there are reports that some parts may date from Tudor times. One of the people who lived there was Sir Robert Chester (d.1848), Master of Ceremonies to three English Kings, George III, George IV and William IV and Queen Victoria. Beatrix Potter used to stay there and sketches she made are still in existence http://www.bush-hall.com/main.htm . The building is now used as a high class hotel, with the Kipling Restaurant in the main building and function rooms, gardens and water features including a former mill leat from the River Lea.
