BURPEE'S FAIRY BLUSH POPPY. BURPEE'S FAIRY BLUSH POPPY. This distinct new Poppy, first named and introduced hj us in 1889, is the most desirable of all double poppies. Few poppies can equal it in beauty and no others remain nearly so long in flower. Our field of these presented one continuous succession of flowers for fully two months, and it was the admiration of all visitors. The immense globular tiowers are perfectly double, and measure from ten to thirteen inches in circumference; the petals are elegantly fringed andi pure white, except at the tips, where they are distinctly colored with rosy cream; a light shading of lemon at the base of the central petals gives the flowers an appearance of great depth. The flowers at a little distance have the effect of large, white, feathery balls overcast with a rosy shade, while a close examination only discloses ad- ditional beauties. The artist, while at Fordhook making sketches, suggested the name of Rosy Wave as descrip- tive of the unique appearance of the enormous flowers, borne on long stems, gently waving in the breeze. The foliage grows only twelve to fourteen inches in height, above which the flowers are borne on stems six to eight inches long. Each plant has from three to five of the magnificent flowers open at one time. Per pkt. 10 cts.; 3 pkts. for 25 cts. NEW MAMMOTH DOUBLE POPPIES. SEEDLINGS FROM FAIRY BLUSH. In our crop of Fairy Blush Poppy in 1889 there oc- curred " a break " into'several distinct colors. The seed from these plants was carefully saved and planted separ- ately the past two seasons. They have not come true, and it will probably take long selection to establish the separ- ate distinct colors, but meanwhile, as the flowers are so perfectly double, of such large size and magnificent form, we have decided to oSer the mixed seed. These Seedlings of Fairy Blush retain the long enduring character of the parent variety, while in col- ors the grand, large flowers are of pure white, glowing scarlet, light lilac, scarlet with white, scarlet with black, pure rose and deep maroon, making in all a really superb strain of Giant-flowered Double Poppies. Per pkt. 10 cts.; 3 pkts. for 25 cts. 4^Any three of the new Poppies described on this page will be mailed for 2-5 cts, or the five for 40 cts.'
