Summary
[edit]DescriptionBunker 113 Bernbach.jpg |
English: Bunker number 113 (formerly Ge 159) is a part of Little Siegfried Line and was located in the forest south-east of Bernbach district of Freigericht. It was erected in 1936 as a "MG Schartenstand for unit group", i.e. as Regelbau 2a (drawing no. “172 B9 -modified-”), with B1 strength, for an 18-man crew. 188 cubic meters of concrete and the 7P7 MG Schartenplatte were used. The construction costs were 36,295 Reichsmarks. The enemy side of the fortification pointed north-west. The bunker was blown up by the US Army after World War II. Ruins of it can still be seen.
The picture shows the enemy side and the front armor (below) with a view of the combat room in which the machine gun was fixed. The rear door leads to the completely destroyed ready room. Above the blown up bunker ceiling. |
