Kommentar: Gedenkmünze anlässlich des 125. Geburtstages von Käthe Kollwitz. - Käthe Kollwitz (1867 in Königsberg in Preußen-1945 Moritzburg bei Dresden) lebte in Berlin in der heutigen Kollwitzstraße mit dem Arzt Karl Kollwitz. Die Graphikerin und Bildhauerin, wurde bekannt durch die Radierfolge „Ein Weberaufstand“. Kaiser Wilhelm II. bezeichnete ihre Arbeiten als „Rinnsteinkunst“. Der Tod ihres Sohnes Peter, der im Ersten Weltkrieg fiel, brachte sie in Annäherung zum Pazifismus und zu den Sozialisten. Sie wurde als erste Frau Mitglied der Preußischen Akademie der Künste, doch 1933 zum Austritt gezwungen. Kurz vor Kriegsende starb sie in Moritzburg bei Dresden. Ihr Werk umfasst Radierungen, Lithographien, Holzschnitte, Zeichnungen und Plastiken.
