For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Halle, Francke-Denkmal ADN-ZB Lehmann 5.11.79 Halle: Francke-Denkmal 150 Jahre alt- Seit 150 Jahren erinnerte ein Denkmal an den Begründer einer zu seiner Zeit einmaligen Waisenhaus und Schulanstalt in Halle, an der August Hermann Francke (1663 bis 1727) wirkte. Dieses für die damalige Zeit fortschrittliche Einrichtung verfolgte das Ziel, Bildung für alle- auch die ärmsten Schichten- zu ermöglichen. Das Monument schuf der Bildhauer Christian Rauch.
