For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Berlin, Einweisung zur Kartoffelkäferbekämpfung Aufn.: Illus Schmidtke Be. 7515 - 50 1 9.8.1950 Kartoffelkäfer-Suchaktion in den Randgebieten Berlins. In diesen Tagen fand in den Randgebieten des demokratischen Sektors von Berlin eine umfassende Aktion zur Bekämpfung der Kartoffelkäferplage statt. Auf den volkseigenen Gütern Malchow und Falkenberg untersuchten Spezialtrupps die Felder und entdeckten mehrere Befallsstellen, auf denen z.T. 200 Kartoffelkäfer gefunden wurden. UBz: Schulkinder aus dem Bezirk Weißensee halfen bei der Suchaktion. Hier gibt der Lehrer den Kindern Anleitung.
