For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Kulturhaus der Jugend in Magdeburg wird eingeweiht.

In den Wirren des Hitlerkrieges ging auch das ehem. Francke-Jugendheim, in dem die HJ ihren Befehlsstand hatte, in Schutt und Asche unter. Mit Unterstützung der VE-Betriebe baute sich die FDJ aus dieser Trümmerstätte ihr Heim auf, das am 25.6.49 eingeweiht wurde und den Namen "Kulturhaus der FDJ, Francke-Jugendheim" erhielt.
