For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Bernau, Gaststudent aus der VAR Zentralbild Koard 8.6.70 Freundschaft mit der VAR-Bernau-b.Berlin: Schule der Solidarität - würdiger Vertreter der Hafenarbeitergewerkschaft - Mehamed Soliman Hassan ist Generalsekretär der Gewerkschaft der Hafenarbeiter in der VAR. Seit 27.4.70 studiert er an der Hochschule der Deutschen Gewerkschaften "Fritz Heckert". In wenigen Tagen endet der Lehrgang und er kehrt zu seiner Familie, Frau und fünf Kinder zurück. Ein Freund verläßt dann unsere Republik. Mohamed Soliman Hassan ist von unserer Entwicklung beeindruckt. "Der Sozialismus ist eine gute Sache!" - Das waren immer wieder seine Worte.
