For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Gartz / Oder, Aufreihen der Tabakblätter

Zentralbild- Diedrich 1948 Tabakanbau im Gebiet um Gartz an der Oder. Hier wurde bereits vor dem II. Weltkrieg Tabak angebaut. Die Anfänge des Tabakanbaues in der Mark Brandenburg reichen zurück bis in das Jahr 1691. U.B.z: Frauen beim Aufreihen der Tabakblätter auf Hanfschnüre. Diese sogenannten Bandeliere werden dann in den Trockenschuppen bis zur "Dachreife" aufgehängt.
