Berlin, Neubauten, Plattenbauten Zentralbild Spremberg 5.8.1965 Weit reicht der Blick… vom Berliner Rathausturm. Zwischen der Vielzahl von Neubauten kann man im Hintergrund links deutlich die Türme am Frankfurter Tor erkennen. Im Vordergrund geht das 17-stöckige Wohnhochhaus in der Singer Straße - Ecke Alexander Straße seiner Vollendung entgegen.

Das Bild zeigt den heute nicht mehr erkannbaren Straßenverlauf, im Vordergrund verläuft heute die Alexanderstraße zur Kreuzung der Holzmarktstraße (dort, wo man die drei Straßenbahnen nebeneinander im Bild sieht). Das im Bau befindliche Turmhochhaus ist der Prototyp des WHH 17, das sogenannte "Punkthaus Schillingstraße" (Schillingstraße 30), Entwurf 1963 von Josef Kaiser für den VEB-Berlin-Projekt, fertiggestellt 1966. Die Bauten entlang der Holzmarktstraße stehen noch nicht. Das Haus rechts des Punkthauses ist der Block Ifflandstraße 1-4, links des Punkthochhauses der erste Querblock an der heutigen Alexanderstraße. Links hinter dem Punkthochhaus erscheint der Wohnblock Neue Blumenstraße. Diese Häuser sind alle vom Plattenbautyp QP 61, erkennbar an ihren doppelten Giebelbalkonen. Die Brandwand ganz links unten im Bild gehört zum alten Kaufhausgebäude Magazinstraße 15-16, es steht noch heute.
