For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.  Schwerin, Sport und Kongresshalle
Zentralbild Kohls 15.9.1964 15. Jahrestag der DDR Die Sport- und Kongresshalle in Schwerin In ihrer architektonischen Gestaltung zählt die Halle zu den modernsten der DDR. Das Aluminiumdach umfasst 5600 m². Vier Pfeiler und zwei Querträger zu je 80 t tragen die Halle. Das Gesamtgewicht der Stahlkonstruktion mit seiner Verglasung beträgt 500 t. bei bühnen- und Boxveranstaltungen finden 8000 Zuschauer Platz. bei anderen Sportveranstaltungen wie Hallenhandball oder Leichtathletik sind es 6000 Plätze. die letzten sportlichen Höhepunkte erlebte dieser hochmoderne Bau bei den Olympia-Ausscheidungskämpfen im Boxen und Turnen (Frauen). |
