For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Matuschewski, May, Herrmann, Valentin Zentralbild Repro 24.7.1963 Leichtathletik: DDR-Staffel lief Weltrekord: 14:58.0 Einen DDR-Auswahl mit Manfred Matuschewski, Jürgen Mai, Siegfried Herrmann und Siegfried Valentin lief am 23.7.1963 bei einem Abendsportfest im Potsdamer Stadion Luftschiffhafen mit 14:58,0 min. neuen Weltrekord über 4 mal 1500 m. Bisheriger Rekordhalter war Frankreich (Claussee, Bogey, Jazy, Bernard) mit 15:04,2 Min. Die Franzosen waren diese Zeit am 28. Juni 1961 in Versailles gelaufen.
