For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Eisenhüttenstadt, Selbstbedienungsladen Zentralbild Krueger Kohls-Sommer 2.2.1959 RS-I 1500 Wohnungen für Eisenhüttenstadt. Im Jahre 1959 werden in Eisenhüttenstadt der ersten sozialistischen Stadt der DDR, 750 Wohnungen schlüsselfertig übergeben und weitere 750 Wohnungen im Rohbau fertiggestellt werden. Wie im Volkwirtschaftsplan vorgesehen, werden vorrangig Wohnungen mit einer Grundfläche von durchschnittlich 55 qm gebaut. Außerdem sind zahlreiche Sonderbauten in Angriff genommen, u. a. ein Textilkaufhaus, ein Möbelkaufhaus, zahlreiche Läden und eine Grundschule. UBz: Vor einem Selbstbedienungsladen.
