In einer öffentlichen Plenarsitzung der Deutschen Akademie der Künste in Berlin wurde am 27.3.1958 vom Präsidenten der Akademie, Prof. Otto Nagel, der „Heinrich-Mann-Preis“ für schriftstellerische Arbeiten verliehen. Frau Leonie Mann-Askemzy, die Tochter des Dichters wohnte der Sitzung bei.
