Nicht nur als Stätte des Leistungsvergleichs und Bildungs- und Informationszentrum der Gemüse-, Obst- und Zierpflanzenproduktion ist das über 100 Hektar große iga-Gelände bekannt. Den Erfurtern und ihren Gästen dient das Parkgelände mit seinen gastronomischen und kulturellen Einrichrungen ebenso als Zentrum der Erholung und Entspannung. Idyllische Plätze unter Palmen bietet das Freiluftcafe am Südhang.
