For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Banknoten werden vernichtet!

Die Deutsche Reichsbank lässt von Zeit zu Zeit alte abgegriffene und beschädigte deutsche Banknoten einziehen und in ihrer Banknoten-Vernichtungsanstalt vernichten. Ehe das aus dem Verkehr gezogene Papiergeld zur Vernichtungsstelle gelangt, wird es von Beamten der Reichsbank genau registriert und dann in die Zerschneidemaschine geworfen. Die vernichteten Banknoten werden zur Herstellung anderen Papiers weiter verwendet.

Hunderttausende von Mark liegen zermahlen auf dem Transportwagen. Durch die dicken Rohre rinnt das zermahlene Papiergeld auf den Wagen.
