Description
Information added by Wikimedia users.
English: A short wave curtain antenna at Nauen Transmitter Station, Germany's most powerful international radio station in Nauen, Germany in 1931. This was used to broadcast German news programs in English to other countries. It is constructed of an array of wire dipole antennas suspended in front of a reflector consisting of a "curtain" of vertical wires, suspended from a horizontal support cable between the towers. It transmits a beam of radio waves at a shallow angle into the sky above the horizon, which reflect off the ionosphere and return to Earth beyond the horizon, allowing the station to communicate at intercontinental distances.
