Questo e posto più innanzi verso 1' estremo anteriore del corpo, si può ammettere anzi che in molti casi esso raggiunga addirit- tura questa porzione dell' animale. La sua forma e per lo più. quella d'una pera, giacché in avanti si continua con un prolun- gamento simulante il picciuolo della persi, prolungamento che lo unisce al blefaroblasto e che talora sembra partire da un cario- soma allogato nel nucleo. Forme di transizione â A canto a questa doppia categoria d'individui nei quali ben chiaramente si può notare il dimorfismo sessuale, ve ne ha una terza molto meno numerosa i cui carat- teri hanno qualche somiglianza sia con l'uno che con l'altro sesso, e che differiscono pertanto sia dell' uua forma sessuata che dal- l'altra. Alcuni di questi individui hanno una, estremità anteriore appuntita con nucleo internato come nel maschio, ina mancano del pungiglione e dei flagelli.
