Bavay. Marginellopsis Serrei nov. sp. M. Serre, consul de France à la Havane, a recueilli et envoyé à plusieursreprises au Muséum des sables coquilliers provenant des plages de Cuba. Dans un lot récemment reçu, M. de Bonry avait trié quelques Margi-nelles qui furent soumises à mon examen: Lune dentre elles, par sonextrême petitesse, attira mon attention. Cétait, me semblait-il, la pluspetite Marginelle connue. Daprès des mesures exactement prises, les plusgrands individus de notre coquille ont seulement 1 millimètre de hauteuravec 3/4 de millimètre de largeur. La forme générale est assez analogueà celle de la minuscule Marginella (Granula) Mariei Crosse, de Nouvelle-Calédonie. Je me suis assuré que les types de cette dernière sont en réalité Muséum. PI. III.

a4o Mollusques de lAfrique équatoriale. — 241 — un peu plus grands que notre espèce cubaine. Mais ceile-ci est-elle réelle-ment une Marginelle, comme javais pu le croire à première vue? Lexamenau microscope révèle une sculpture absolument inconnue dans ce genre. . .Ayant recherché avec grand soin cette très petite coquille dans près dunkilogramme de sable tamisé, formé en majeure partie de Foraminifèreset de débris de coquilles et de madrépores, nous avons pu en rencontrerun certain nombre dexemplaires ; malheureusement beaucoup sont érodéset la sculpture caractéristique est chez eux devenue peu visible, ou mêmeelle a complètement disparu. Cependant quelques rares individus sontrestés suffisamment intacts pour laire lobjet dune étude qui ma démontréquil ne sagit pas là dune Marginelle au sens générique du mot, maisdune espèce nouvelle dun genre également nouveau, appartenant trèsprobablement à la famille des Marginellidées, genre et espèce dont sui
