| Description |
Around 2005 or so, Buick retired its longstanding car names and introduced newer models as replacements; the replacement for the Century and the Regal was the LaCrosse. But while the LaCrosse had been named after the ball game, it also happens to be a slang denoting "self-love" or masturbation in Canadian French, so the Canadian version had to be marketed as the Allure instead, as seen here. After the 2010 redesign, however, Buick decided to unify the model name in both the US and Canada, and except for a very few early 2010 models, the newest iteration is called LaCrosse, even in Canada. |
