Description

Română: Bucuresti, Romania. BISERICA ICOANEI (4) (B-II-m-B-18925). Pe locul sau în preajma actualei biserici – clasată monument istoric – se afla pe la 1681-1682 un mic schit de lemn. Către 1700, grija lăcaşului o purta David Corbea Ceauş, venit din Braşov. Este probabil ca el să fi avut case şi proprietăţi în apropiere, căci mahalaua înconjurătoare îi purta numele – Ceauş David. Pentru o vreme, mica biserică a purtat acelaşi nume. Conform tradiţiei, icoana Maicii Domnului, ferecată în argint şi lucrată de Filip Nicolau Argintarul la 1682, aflată azi în naos, ar fi fost dăruită de domnitorul Constantin Brâncoveanu. De la ea, cu vremea, a început să i se spună Biserica Icoanei.
