Buckle plate |

Description |
English: A copper-alloy medieval circa 14th century buckle plate of trefoil shape measuring 22mm in length and 20mm in width.
The plate is a folded sheet plate with a circular rivet hole in the centre of each lobe of the trefoil. There are two opposing projecting knops on the outer edges of the two lobes at the folded attachment end of plate. The plate is recessed to accomodate the missing frame and has a rectangular pin slot. The copper-alloy circular cross-sectioned bar of the frame remains in situ held by the folded end of the plate, the rest of the frame is missing. There are patches of active powdery light greenish/blue corrosion on both faces of this plate. |
