Title
Buckle pin
Description
English: An incomplete copper-alloy probable buckle pin. This pin is fairly large measuring 33mm in surviving length and 10mm in width, at its widest point. It has been cast in one, the attachment end is incomplete due to old breaks, now worn, its integral loop, which would have attached it to the bar of the buckle is now missing. The attachment end is flat and roughly rectangular in shape (15mm in length and 10mm in width), with a waisted centre. Below this the pin tapers towards its tip. This pin is similar, although rather large, to the traditionally known 'shield on tongue' buckle pins which occur on early Anglo-Saxon buckle dating to the late 6th or early 7th centuries.
