Description
English: Cast copper alloy buckle pin with a plate which in the past has been known as a shield on tongue type. Length 29mm, width 11mm and 7mm thick. Loop missing. The tip of the pin curves forward very sharply at an angle of about 90 degrees to the shaft. The pin is "D" shaped in section - flat on the underside. Similar buckle pins were found at Chessell Down, Isle of Wight, Anglo Saxon cemetery during the nineteenth century. See Arnold 1982.
