Description

Luego de la Segunda Guerra Mundial llegaron al país más de 20.000 refugiados políticos. De éstos, un alto porcentaje tenía estudios avanzados, pero el desconocimiento del español obligó a muchos al trabajo físico: algunos fueron empleados en la construcción del Aeropuerto de Ezeiza, la Avenida General Paz y en otras obras durante la presidencia de Perón.

En este grupo, encontramos también ingenieros de bosques, como Josip Balen, Ivica Frkovic – que había sido ministro de Bosques y Minería en Croacia – los hermanos Hranilovic, Jure Petrak, Ivica Asancaic, Luka Poduje y Casimir Uhrin. Y los hubo especialistas en genética agropecuaria, como Josip José Crnko, Ante Turica y Jure Devcic, todos ellos con muchas investigaciones y publicaciones y de importante actuación en el INTA y el INTI; Marcel Bakarcic en el Delta; Stjepan Horvat en el Instituto Geodésico Militar. En el campo de la ingeniería química hubo muchos, como Tomislav Kopsic, Nikola Matijevic y el académico de Letras Dinko Cvitanovic.
