Summary
[edit]DescriptionBrunels "bridge rail" used as a post for railings (geograph 4488154).jpg |
English: Brunel's "bridge rail" used as a post for railings.
The black upright is known as "bridge rail" because of its cross-section. It is the kind of rail Brunel used in his 7ft wide gauge railway. When the Didcot, Newbury & Southampton Railway was being constructed in the 1880s, there must have been plenty of this bridge rail no longer needed, so it was used for railing posts. |
