Description |
English: Roman brooch; Cast copper alloy brooch fragment decorated with enamel – foot of brooch only. The fragment consists of a circular boss above a flaring ‘fantail’ style plate. The brooch comes to a slight point at the base. There is a rib running vertically down the back face with the remains of the catchplate at the base of the fragment. The fragment is decorated with a circle in relief on the circular boss. There are then 2 incised horizontal lines separating the boss from the flaring panel. The flared panel is decorated with four small diamond shapes, inlaid with dark blue enamel.
