Title
Bronze Age dirk or rapier fragment (probably)
Description
English: A fragment of a copper-alloy blade of probable middle Bronze Age date. The general form and dimensions of this piece suggest that it came from a long, slender implement, such as a dirk or rapier; the narrowness and thinness would seem to preclude the possibility of it being from a sword.

The piece has roughly parallel sides and is of thin lozenge-shaped section, with bevelled edges. The top and bottom edges are almost horizontal, but the jagged nature of these edges suggest that this piece was broken (albeit possibly deliberately) rather than cut. The surfaces have a dark blueish-green patina.

The object measures 30.7mm long, 20.6mm wide and 2.9mm thick. The weight is 10.13g.
