Title
Bronze Age Blade Fragment
Description
English: An incomplete fragment from a cast copper-alloy knife or rapier blade of Bronze Age date. Only a very worn short length of the blade from close to the tip survives intact, the remainder now missing due to old breaks. It is triangular in form, tapering towards the incomplete tip and missing most of the blade edges due to old breaks. The blade is elliptical in section and has a slightly flattened mid-rib. This blade fragment measures 44.05mm in length, 13.58mm in maximum width, 2.62mm in thickness, and weighs 4.79g. This is the tip from a blade of Bronze Age date, probably a knife or rapier, although potentially from a sickle or similar object. It dates to between c.2,150 and 800 BC.
