Title
Bronze Age : Scraper
Description
English: A complete knapped lithic implement of Bronze Age date, circa 2350 - 800 BC. The implement is a large and crude scraper formed from a primary flake which is sub-ovate in both plan and section. Both surfaces are irregular with numerous flakes having been removed. The dorsal surface retains around 90% of its cortex.

The flint is a light grey colour with lighter inclusions and iron staining across the surface. The implement is 64.1mm long, 55.5mm wide, 19.8mm thick and weighs 70g.

Scrapers are fairly ubiquitous throughout prehistory and are generally less chronologically distinctive than other artefact types. They had many different functions as they were very useful tools and were employed, for example, for skinning animals, removing the fatty deposit from hinds and much more.
