Summary
[edit]DescriptionBromus hordeaceus Goulburn plant2 (8666624037).jpg |
Introduced, cool-season, annual, erect tufted grass to 90 cm tall. A native of Europe and Asia, it is found as a minor weed in disturbed area such as roadsides, gardens, crops and fertilised natural pastures or older introduced pastures. Does not produce a large bulk of feed, but it is palatable and of moderate-high quality when green and actively growing during the cooler months. Despite reasonable feed quality at flowering, it tends to be avoided by stock due to the hairiness of the stems and heads. Control is rarely necessary in pastures although heavily grazing prior to seeding is likely to reduce populations. |
