Summary
[edit]DescriptionBritish Empire and Commonwealth Museum - back entrance - geograph.org.uk - 572704.jpg |
English: British Empire & Commonwealth Museum - back entrance This building was the original terminal building for the Great Western Railway and was designed by Isambard Kindom Brunel. Services to Bath started in 1840 and to London in 1841. It is the oldest railway terminus in the world and is a Grade I listed building. It was closed in 1965 and fell into disrepair. Now the western part of the building houses the British Empire and Commonwealth museum, whilst the eastern part is used as a covered car park. |
