Summary
[edit]DescriptionBridgnorth preserved 8F 2-8-0 at Severn Valley Railway geograph-2764981-by-Ben-Brooksbank.jpg |
English: Preserved 8F 2-8-0 at Bridgnorth, Severn Valley Railway. View eastward, south of Bridgnorth Station. This locomotive has a complex history. It was built by NB Loco in 6/40 for the WD as No. 307, but owing to the Fall of France it was loaned to the LMSR and run as No. 8233 until 7/41, when it was shipped to Persia and worked there until 1952. It then returned to Britain and worked on BR(LMR) as No. 48773 until withdrawn in 12/62 - but reinstated in 11/63 and eventually withdrawn at the End of Steam in 8/68. In 5/70 it was purchased by the Severn Valley Railway, who restored it as No. 8233. |
