Notes The work is an old copy of Breenbergh's missing painting. There are also two other copies: 1) canvas, 105 x 130 cm, once in Abbe du Jardin collection, Bruges, Cat. 1846, il. 27 (photo in RKD); 2) panel, 78 x 102 cm, Sotheby's Billinghurst, Sussex, 25-26.05.1993, 750 (page 94, number 750) as "a copy of the destroyed painting from 1644, formerly in Dresden, engraved by Jan de Bisschop before 1650 ". Warsaw's version is finer finished.
