Summary
[edit]DescriptionBrandberg massif (ASTER).jpg |
English: The Brandberg Massif in Northern Namibia is the dominant geographic feature of the central Namib desert. This dome-shaped granite intrusion covers an area of 650 square kilometers and rises 2573 meters above the surrounding desert. It is an important habitat for high-altitude savannah species, and is of great archaeological interest for the many prehistoric cave paintings found among its granite cliffs. This ASTER perspective view was created by draping image data over ASTER-derived DEM. The data were acquired January 3, 2001, and are located at 21.1 degrees south latitude and 14.5 degrees east longitude. |
