English: The 3 year old Brahman cow, named Kolenki, with her bull calf, named Portugesie, born 3 days before on Sunday 13 December 2009 on the farm Rocky Ridge in the district Potchefstroom, North West Province, South Africa. She hid him in the bush for two days, before she came to introduce him. This is her first calf, she will hopefully have another 10 calves, one each year, they are pregnant for 9 months. He's not eating the grass, he drinks milk, he's just mimicking his mother. You might make out the mark DCS burnt on her buttock, as required by law. The D is turned right and the C is turned left. Every farmer has his own burn mark, registered with the Department of Agriculture. In her ear is a plastic ear tag, the number is not visible, it's on the inside. She weighs 500 kg.

Hy eet nie regtig die gras nie, hy drink melk, hy boots net sy ma na. U kan dalk die brandmerk DCS op haar boud sien, soos deur die wet vereis. Die D is regs gedraai, en die C is links gedraai. Elke boer het sy eie brandmerk, geregistreer by die Departement van Landbou. In haar oor is 'n plastiek etiket, die nommer is nie sigbaar nie, dis aan die binnekant. Sy weeg 500 kg. |
