Seed pod of a Kurrajong Brachychiton populneus. East Kunderang, Oxley Wild Rivers National Park, NSW Australia, November 2009.

The short hard hairs are very itchy if you get them in your skin. Best to use a pair of tweezers to get the seeds out.
