Title
Bracelet
Description
English: Late Roman copper alloy bracelet. Elaborately decorated solid penannular strip bracelet with butt-terminals. The bracelet has a repeating design of alternating panels divided by two or three lateral incised lines. The smaller panel has a cross motif composed of punched ring-and-dots. Two small V-shaped nicks on each edge enhance the panel design. The larger panel has faceted sides and three rows of ring-and-dot, one row on each faceted edge and a central row. The bracelet is of rectangular cross-section, not including the panels with faceted sides, and widens slightly at its centre. The one surviving terminal ends in three lateral incised lines and is bevelled. The other end has broken before the terminal. The bracelet is generally in good condition with a mid-brown patina and has an inconsistent green corrosion. The bracelet is probably of Clarke’s (1979) Type E2.
