Title
Bow Brooch
Description
English: Upper fragment of a cast copper alloy dolphin brooch, probably of 1st century AD date. The brooch has a hinge mechanism, with the upper portion of the pin surviving. The wings have a circular cross section with no decoration evident on the surviving remnants. The bow is wide and flat with a pronounced central moulding resembling a chord. The bow edges carry two low decorative grooves on each shoulder. The sides are eroded and the brooch broke above the position of the catch plate.
