Summary
[edit]DescriptionBosra, syria, easter 2004.jpg |
English: and what a strange place bosra is.
when later buildings had been cleared away by archaeologists to reveal the roman urban fabric underneath, the druze population, originally refugees from lebanon, moved right back in. people are very poor here and badly in need of the tourism that this place deserves (if any place really deserves tourism...). but all the syrians are getting these days is a million and a half refugees from the war in iraq. kindness and couriosity abound here as elsewhere in syria, even if it has a slight edge from the poverty and neglect. a local boy, acting as an uninvited guide, told us that the houses were good to live in as the volcanic basalt stone they are build with insulates equally well for heat and cold, summer and winter. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Druze more words, yada, yada, yada.
