August 22, 2019 Santa Barbara Channel, California A spill response operating team (SROT) deploys a spill containment boom from an offshore facility in Southern California as part of an exercise. The boom is stored on the platform for emergency use in the event of an oil spill. BSEE Preparedness Analysts from the Oil Spill Preparedness Division (OSPD) regularly inspect this type of equipment and observe industry training and exercise activities to ensure compliance with regulations and to monitor the overall vigor of the oil spill preparedness and response community.
