Title
Book strap end
Description
English: A copper alloy strap end book clasp. A two-piece strap end with a hinged plate and loop at the end. The plate is folded sheet copper alloy, there are two rivet holes at the terminal, the sides are decorated with V-shaped notches. The end of the plated has bee folded into a penannualer that has been narrowed to accommodate the hinged terminal. the terminal on oval with a hole in the centre, the rear has two backward facing arms that hold the axis bar. The forward edge has a lug with a horizontal piecing.

It is suggested that such strap ends were arranged in pairs and that they may be book fasteners rather than dress accessiories (Egan, G and Pritchard, F, 1991, p155 ). The loop and the plate are of different alloys and have corroded differently.
